Melon Caprese Skewers

Our caprese skewers with mozzarella- and melon balls, fresh basil leaves and a wonderful herb vinaigrette are a quick and light finger food. They are perfect as a starter or party snack and can also be spiced up with cherry tomatoes or prosciutto.

 

Ingredients for the skewers

  • 20 balls of mini-mozzarella
  • 1/2 small water melon
  • 1/2 small musk melon
  • 1/2 bunch of basil

 

Ingredients for the vinaigrette

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1/2 bunch of basil
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of pepper

 

Preparation

Using a melon baller, form ten balls from the water melon and the musk melon. Pluck larger basil leaves from the bunch.

Alternately thread the mozzarella balls, a few basil leaves and the melon balls onto short bamboo or wooden skewers.

For the vinaigrette, finely chop a clove of garlic and pluck the basil leaves. Mix together with the remaining ingredients in a tall container using a blender.

Arrange the skewers on a plate and drizzle with some vinaigrette.
